Roller Speed Skating Championship starts today

The 4th Roller Speed Skating Championship, with nearly 300 skaters from across the country, begins today at the Laser Skating Club at Dhanmondi Abahani ground. The skaters will be representing 25 clubs over the eight age-level categories. After the conclusion of the local meet, Bangladesh Roller Staking Federation aspires to host the South Asian Roll Ball Championship next September. “We will pick the players from the meet and train them for the upcoming event. We have some talented skaters and we look forward to move ahead with hard work,” said Ahmed Asiful Hasan, the general secretary of the federation. The budget of the meet is approximately Tk500,000 and Nur Mohammed, the secretary of sport, will inaugurate the meet as the chief guest.  Last year, the federation organised an international roll ball meet where India defeated Bangladesh 5-1 in the final of the Victory Day Friendship International Roll Ball. Nepal was the other team to participate in the event.
