A two-day film screening and discussion sessions paying tribute to recently demised eminent Indian filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh will begin today at the National Art Gallery Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
BSA and Moviana Film Society jointly organised the event titled “Atapar Rituparno.”
The event includes a total of four movies by the master director. Today’s programme features three films: Dahan at 3pm, Doshor at 5pm and Chokher Bali at 7pm. Tomorrow, Ghosh’s one of the most acclaimed films Abohoman will be shown at 6:30pm, while a discussion session participated by film critics, directors, film researchers, actors and many others will be held earlier at 4:30pm. Ghosh’s outstanding contribution in Bangla cinema and his rebellious character both as a person and as an artist will be discussed in the assembly.
Ghosh died on May 30 and his untimely demise shocked the film lovers around the world.
Ghosh made films about women, sexuality and urban life that challenged conservative sensibilities in India. The winner of 12 national and some international awards, Ghosh was known throughout India and beyond, achieving both critical and commercial success and earning acclaim at film festivals in Asia, Europe and North America.
