4 of a family among 7 killed in Sirajganj road crash

At least seven people, including four of a family, were killed as a rashly driven truck ran over a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Hatikumrul-Bogra Highway in Ghurka Bazar area under Solonga Thana in Sirajganj district on Tuesday afternoon, reports UNB.

The deceased were identified as Shefali Khatun, 32, wife of Lal Chand; Uzzal Mia, 28, younger brother of Lal Chand; Laki Khatun, 24, wife of Uzzal; Suraiya, 11-month, daughter of Uzzal; Babu Mia, 25, son of Shah Alam; Aminul Islam, 40, son of Siddique and auto-rickshaw driver Ripon, 25, son of Karap Ali of the same upazila.

Officer-in-charge of Hatikumrul Highway Police Station Ali Farid Ahmed said the accident took place at Bhurka Beltala around 2pm when a Dhaka-bound truck from Bogra hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, killing four passengers of the auto-rickshaw on the spot and injuring three others.

Later, three injured people died on the way to General Hospital.

Centring the incident, agitated mob barricaded the highway and vandalised the killer bus.
