Flying Sikh Milkha Singh made an appearance in Mumbai for the launch of the music and trailer of an upcoming film based on his life. Farhan Akhtar was also present, who reprises the role of the legendary athlete in “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag” and the director of the film Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.
While several filmmakers had approached Milkha to make a film on him, it was finally his son, international golfer Jeev Milkha Singh, who chose Mehra. The reason? “My son loves watching Hindi cinema every day and whenever he comes back from a tour, he watches at least one Hindi film. At that point he happened to see ‘Rang De Basanti’ so he chose him.”
He sincerely hopes that the film inspires the youth of today to take part in the Olympics and win laurels for their country.
“The coming generation does not know about Milkha Singh. I hope that they see this movie and get inspired to take part in the Olympics and make their country proud,” he said at the launch.
Indian cinema’s leading man Farhan Akhtar plays it tough in the film “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag,” which tells the fabled tale of India’s track hero Milkha Singh, releasing on 12th July 2013.
