Law enforcers in separate overnight drives detained 10 people, including a Nigerian national along with a large amount of fake dollars and narcotics from different part of the city Thursday night.
A special team of Rab in an overnight drive picked up four people, including a Nigerian national and two women along with 2kg of heroin and a large amount of fake dollars from the city’s Uttara area.
The identities of the detainees could not be known immediately.
Confirming the matter to the Dhaka Tribune, Lt Colonel Ziaul Ahsan, Rab intelligence wing director, said: “For the last couple of years, this group has been involved in various illegal businesses in Bangladesh.”
He said the gang was held while trying to smuggle the heroin to China.
In another drive, DB police seized 30,000 pieces of Yaba tablets and held six people, including a female student of Titumir College.
DB West Zone additional deputy commissioner Moshiur Rahman confirmed the matter.
