Bashundhara City’s Star Cineplex has brought the Hollywood blockbuster “GI JOE: Retaliation” (3D) for the action movie lovers of the city. The movie will premiere Thursday and will be open for all from Friday.
“GI JOE: Retaliation” is a 2013 American science fiction action film directed by Jon M Chu, based on Hasbro’s GIJOE toy, comic and media franchises. It is a sequel to 2009’s “GI JOE: The Rise of Cobra.”
GI JOE: Retaliation features an ensemble cast, starring Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson, with Channing Tatum, Arnold Vosloo, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce, and Byung-hun Lee reprising their roles from the first film. The film is fast-paced action with great visuals. Palicki brings in the much needed eye-candy for the hardcore action fans though only in glimpses while Channing, being the chick-magnet gets one big anxious sigh from the ladies in the first half of the movie. Dwayne does what he has done in the earlier parts.
The Joes are framed for stealing nuclear warheads from Pakistan by Zartan (Arnold Vosloo) who is impersonating the President of the United States (Jonathan Pryce). The entire team is eliminated in a military strike, with Duke (Channing Tatum) as one of the casualties. Roadblock (Dwayne Johnson), Flint (DJ Cotrona) and Lady Jaye (Adrianne Palicki) are the only survivors.
The GI Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra, they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardise their very existence.
There’s muscle, hard-hitting physical combat action, sensuality, technology, star-appeal and pretty interesting automobiles.
The film is written by “Zombie Land” writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. The film was released in North America on March 28, 2013.
“GI JOE: Retaliation” will be released on DVD, Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D on July 30.
