Opsonin Pharmaceutical Company’s covered van helper was killed and the driver injured by some assailants at Dhanaiya area under Shibpur upazila of Narsingdi on Sunday night. The assailants looted medicine worth about Tk1,600,000.
The deceased was Bazlu Hawlader, 32, helper of the van.
Driver Mamun Hawlader was injured and was admitted to Narsingdi zila hospital.
Police and witnesses said the medicine-loaded covered van was going to Bhairab from Shibpur. When the van reached Dhanaiya village, some 10 to 11 assailants stopped it and attacked driver Mamun with sharp weapons.
Helper Bazlu resisted them, but the criminals killed him and threw his body along with injured Mamun near the road and managed to flee with the medicine loaded van.
