Three people were killed and 38 others injured as a bus crashed into a roadside tree in Ahmed Nagar area of Chougachha upazila early Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Ashraful Islam, Babul Miah and Altaf Sardar. They hailed from different areas of Jessore district, reports UNB.
Officer-in-charge of Chougachha police station Golam Rahman said a group of devotees of Jessore was returning home by bus from Biswajaker Manjil in Atrashi of Faridpur district.
When the Jessore-bound bus reached in Ahmed Nagar area it crashed into a tree at about 12.05am as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving 41 passengers injured.
Of the injured, 31 were admitted to Chougachha Upazila Health Complex where attending doctor declared Ashraful dead.
Nine others were sent to Jessore 250-bed hospital where Babul succumbed to his injuries.
On the other hand, locals recovered the body of Altaf from inside the bus Tuesday morning.
