The government has decided to relax the rules and ages for the recruitment of nurses for appointing 4,126 senior staff nurses in vacant posts of different public hospitals in the country.
The cabinet on Monday gave its approval to recruit the nurses on ad hoc basis following the commitment of the prime minister to appoint at least 5,000 nurses in public services.
A regular cabinet meeting held at the Secretariat on Monday approved the decision with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
After the meeting, cabinet secretary Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan told reporters that there are lots of vacant posts for nurses in most of the public hospitals in the country. The prime minister is committed to fulfil at least 5,000 posts as soon as possible on ad hoc basis.
“According to the decision of cabinet, up to 36-year-old expert diploma nurses will get the scope to be recruited in public hospitals,” he added.
The cabinet secretary said the approval of Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) was needed to recruit and relax the age of recruiting senior staff nurses as it is a class-II post. The PSC has already given their approval.
The senior staff nurses will be recruited based on the seniority, results and merit lists of the nursing institutes.
The recruitment process will commence soon after the approval of the cabinet.
