High tide compels the riverside area people to leave home in Pirojpur

Almost 15,000 people are rendered homeless as high tide in the Bolesswar River broke the 20km dam in Pirojpur in the last flood.

People living in the areas of Vandaria, Zianagar, Kawkhali, Kocha, Kalingay, Chirapara, Gabkhan, Kaligonga and Mothbaria have been suffering from this problem.

Thousands of families of these areas come to highway to take shelter when flow comes. They return to their homes when the ebb returns.

They are suffering from this problem constantly.

Their homes are being flooded and their belongings are being destroyed with water.

As a result, they are passing their times in helpless condition. The anxiety becomes severe in the families with children and old people.

Besides, Aush paddy are being marred by the water of the flow. Crops and livestock are also facing harm.

No measures have been taken yet to solve the suffering of the people of these areas.

Deputy Commissioner Amol Kanti Das told banglanews: “Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief has allocated 35 tons of rice for the victims while 5 tons have been allocated for each upazila.

Order has been given already to distribute the allocated rice. Besides, other aids are on the process”.
