Masud Mannan made ambassador to Uzbekistan

The government has appointed Masud Mannan, currently serving as the additional foreign secretary, as the new ambassador to Uzbekistan.

Mannan, a career diplomat, belongs to the 1984 batch of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Foreign Affairs Cadre.

Besides serving as the ambassador to Morocco and Germany, he served in Bangladesh Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, Bangladesh embassies in Muscat and Beijing, and Bangladesh High Commission in London in various capacities, a foreign ministry press release says.

Mannan obtained master’s degree in economics from Dhaka University and later from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in the USA. He successfully completed the national defence course from the National Defence College, Dhaka, in 2006.

Masud Mannan also served as the general secretary of International Studies Association, Bangladesh.

He is married and has a son.
