Proposed sports budget increases

Tk2.63bn has been allocated for the ministry of youth and sports in the budget that the finance minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhith will submit today for 2013-2014 financial year. The new proposed budget for sports is larger than the previous one by Tk23m as last year Tk2.4bn was allotted for the same purpose. Of the whole budget for the respective ministry, Tk585m will be spent by the National Sports Council for the development of sports. The development work under the NSC includes building a swimming pool and gymnasium in Gopalganj, renovation of Sheikh Kamal Stadium in the district, building of a women’s sports complex, renovation of four other district stadiums and two divisional women’s sports complexes.
