The work of installing prepaid meters to prevent Titas Gas bill manipulation and its misuse has made a little headway as only 4,500 meters have been set up against the target of 600,000 within 2013.
Several high officials of Petrobangla and Titas Gas Company said of the prepaid meters, 300,000 would be financed by Titas. The rest would be funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Acting Managing Director Md Nowshad Islam of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited, a subsidiary of the State-run oil and gas exploration agency, Petrobangla, told the Dhaka Tribune yesterday 8,600 meters were supposed to be installed in Gulshan and Banani areas.
