‘Nazrul Sangeet Shilpi Parishad’ to celebrate Nazrul Jayanti Friday

The 114th birth anniversary of the legendary “Bidrohi Kobi” (rebel poet) will be celebrated enthusiastically by Nazrul Sangeet Shilpi Parishad Friday. This year’s celebration is dedicated to late Sarwar Hossain.

Nazrul Sangeet Shilpi Parishad, a cultural organisation will celebrate a two-day festival named “Kar Banshari Baje,” starting from Friday at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

Through a melodious and harmonious performance of music and song, “Kar Banshari Baje” will be inaugurated at 6:30pm. A total of 88 artistes will take part in the festival. An array of inspirational songs of Nazrul will be presented in the celebrations.

60 artists will perform chorus and 28 artists will perform solo Nazrul Geeti.

The cultural aspect of the programme is a massive arrangement comprising of group, single renditions, contests, all of which is based on Nazrul. Prominent singers Shahin Samad, Yasmin Mushtary, Parveen Sultana, Sheikh Joshim, Manosh Kumar Das, Chanda Chakrabarty, Bipasha Guho Tagorta, the president of Naszrul Sangeet Shilpi Parishad Sujit Mustafa and many more will perform in the celebrations. Also, celebrated dancer Waseque and his troupe will present two dazzling recital on the occasion.

On the occasion, Murshid Jahan and Asadul Haque will get Nazrul Sangeet Shilpi Parishad award and each of them will receive taka 50 thousand.

President of Naszrul Sangeet Shilpi Parishad, Sujit Mustafa informed the Dhaka Tribune: “We always celebrate the birth anniversary of our National Poet Nazrul, before or after his birthday. We want the celebrations to be our top priority as it is my feeling that we do not give enough importance to the legend, certainly not the amount he deserves. I really hope that we will be able to give him memory the love, respect and importance he deserves.”
