Police recovered the body of a housemaid from the capital’s Adabar area, Wednesday morning.
The deceased was a 60-year-old woman, Rahela Khatun, from Satkhira, who had been working at businessman Amzad Hossain’s house for more than four years.
The police are suspecting her employers for her death.
Shamimur Rashid Talukder, officer-in-charge of Adabar police station, said the police recovered Rahela’s body from an ambulance around 9am. Amzad hired the ambulance to send away the dead body clandestinely.
Law enforcers arrested Amzad and his wife Rebeka Anjuman, and seized the ambulance and detained four others for interrogation.
Amzad claimed that when he had gone to the kitchen to call Rahela Wednesday morning, he found her dead. He then called an ambulance to send the body to her village.
The primary report of police after a post mortem examination at Dhaka Medical College morgue revealed that the body bore several injury marks.
Mukta Dhar, assistant commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police told the Dhaka Tribune that they had started investigation and that a murder case had been lodged in this connection.
