At least 10 people were injured in a clash between hartal supporters and cops in the town Sunday morning, reports UNB.
Witnesses said local BNP men brought out a procession in the town from the main gate of Kumudini Welfare Trust at 6am in support of today’s hartal.
Police obstructed them at Kalibazar, triggering a clash between them.
When the pro-hartal activists pelted brick towards the law-enforcers they fired rubber bullets to bring the situation under control.
Meanwhile, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal activists brought out another procession in Kilsarpur area in the town at 6:15am. The pickets vandalised a BRTC bus, a pick-up van and a human hauler in the area.
Police charged baton on the hartal supporters, leaving five of them injured.
The pickets also put up barricade on Salimullah road in the town and burnt tyres. They locked into a clash with police that left five pro-hartal activists injured.
