The process to bring back home the body of Bangladeshi mountaineer Sajal Khaled from the Everest summit has initiated but it will take time since the entire process is unusual, said an official at the Foreign Ministry on Friday.
“The body is at a certain level. That’s a challenge. There’re is a big financial involvement. So far as I know the cost will be around $60,000,” he told UNB preferring anonymity.
Responding to a question, the official said the decision on providing fund is yet to be taken but hoped that it will be decided soon.
The Foreign Ministry official said the government is in touch with the Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu and the Nepalese government in this regard.
On Wednesday, Foreign Minister Dipu Moni said the Foreign Ministry has taken initiatives to bring back home the body of Bangladeshi filmmaker and mountaineer Sajal Khaled from Nepal.
Sajal Khaled, a young filmmaker and climber, died on Mount Everest while descending from the highest point of the earth.
The official said the Bangladeshi climber died in his tent a few hours after successfully climbing the summit.
