Medical teams, supplies ready to brave Mahasen

A total of 1,327 medical teams have been kept stand-by in 13 coastal districts in preparation for the cyclonic storm Mahasen approaching towards the southern coast of Bangladesh.

Health Minister AFM Ruhul Haque disclosed the information while briefing reporting regarding disaster preparedness.  

Briefing reporters about the preparations to face the storm at the ministry on Wednesday, the minister also said 2,968 permanent and temporary “shelter centres” are ready in the areas to accommodate people of the areas.

The minister said a total of 116 medical teams are ready for 455 shelter centres in Cox’s Bazar, 283 medical teams for 479 shelter centres in Chittagong, 78 medical teams for 88 shelter centres in Feni, 105 medical teams for 244 shelter centres in Noakhali, 67 medical teams for 101 shelter centres in Laxmipur, 92 medical teams for 387 shelter centres in Bhola, 46 medical teams for 340 shelter centres in Barguna, 111 medical teams for 360 shelter centres in Patuakhali, 78 medical teams for 161 shelter centres in Pirujpur, 37 medical teams for 23 shelter centres in Jhalakathi, 82 medical teams for 96 shelter centres in Bagerhat, 116 medical teams for 170 shelter centres in Khulna and 116 medical teams for 64 shelter centres in Satkhira, reports banglanews24.com.

Ruhul also said leaves for all the officials and staffs under the health bureau and health department deployed in the districts have been cancelled while all sorts of preparations have been ensured to face the immediate losses after the storm hit the areas.
