A young engineer died as a passenger bus crushed him in the capital's Kazipara area yesterday.
The deceased was Azizul Haque Palash, 28, who worked for Ahsanullah Khan Architect, a private company, at Gulshan.
Hospital sources said the victim was hailed from Sereda of Bogra. He used to reside at 645/B, South Kazipara of Mirpur.
A bus of Safty Paribahan rammed into him at Kazipara while he was going to his office by bicycle and he was killed on the spot at about 10.30 am, said Sub-Inspector Aminul Islam of Mirpur police station.
Police seized the bus (Dhaka Metro – Ga 11 – 3340) and arrested its driver after the accident.
Meanwhile, a woman who sustained injuries being sandwiched between two buses at Syedabad Bus terminal in the capital on Monday succumbed to her injuries yesterday.
The deceased was Nasima Begum, 45, of Hajiganj village in Chandpur district. She came to the city with her children to see a doctor. The incident happened as soon as they got off from a bus in that morning.
She was referred to DMCH from a private clinic yesterday morning and she died in the afternoon.
Police seized the bus but the driver and helper could flee the spot.
