Train communications on the Dhaka-Chittagong and Chittagong-Sylhet routes remained suspended as a freight train derailed in Kosba upazila on Tuesday morning.
Local railway sources said a bogey of the Dhaka-bound train coming from Chittagong went off the track near Mandabagh railway station, snapping rail communications on the routes, reports UNB.
No casualties were reported.
Officer-in-charge of Akhaura Railway Police Station Shahidul Islam said it will take several hours to restore train services on the routes.
In another incident, railway police arrested a man, Jashimuddin, suspecting his involvement in a robbery on a Chittagong-bound mail train coming from Dhaka at Gangasagor on the Dhaka-Chittagong route in the district early Tuesday.
