Ganajagaran Mancha stages anti-hartal procession

The Ganajagaran Mancha brought out a procession on Sunday against the hartal called by Jamaat-e-Islami.

The procession that began at Shahbag in the capital at midday, moved around the roads in front of the Ruposhi Bangla Hotel and ended at the TSC intersection in the Dhaka University campus.

Later a rally was held at the TSC intersection.

At the rally, Ganajagaran Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarker slammed Jamaat for calling the hartal protesting the verdict for capital punishment of its leader Kamaruzzaman for committing war crimes.

The Mancha would continue its movement until all the war criminals were handed capital punishment, Imran added.

He informed that the Ganajagaran Mancha staged protests all around the country as well against the hartal.

The platform of bloggers and activists began demonstrating at the capital’s Shahbag intersection on February 6 demanding capital punishment of all the war criminals after the International Crimes Tribunal handed life sentence to Jamaat leader Quader Mollah.

On May 6, a few hours after the Hefazat men were driven out from the capital, law enforcers also removed the permanent stage from where the Ganajagaran Mancha had been staging programmes since February.
