Family members of 36 victims of Tazrin Fashion Factory received financial assistance from the government about six months after the tragic fire incident that left 112 workers dead.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina handed over a cheque of Tk 7 lakh to each family of the victims at her office yesterday, reports UNB.
The identities of these victims could not be ascertained initially as they were burnt beyond recognition. Bodies were buried at Jurain graveyard. Family members visited the graves on April 30 and urged the government to identify the graves of their beloved ones.
Financial assistance was given after identities of the victims were confirmed through DNA tests.
Earlier, on December 4, the Prime Minister handed over Tk six lakh to each of the 62 families of the Tazrin Fashion Factory, who were identified initially.
At least 111 garment workers were killed in a devastating fire that broke out at the Tazrin Fashion Factory in Ashulia on the outskirts of Dhaka on November 24, 2012.
