The half-day strike called by transport workers began in the capital Monday morning.
The workers are observing the transport strike in protest of the death of one of their fellow workers.
Sources said the strike began at around 6am and will continue till 12 noon.
The workers are set to bring out a procession after taking part in the namaz-e-janaza of their colleague.
Earlier on Sunday, Siddikur Rahaman Siddik, 28, alias Bullet, a helper of Hanif Paribahan was killed in a three-way clash between activists of Hefazat-e-Islam, activists of Awami League and police in the Purana Paltan area.
