Stage play ‘Baur’ showcased at Shilpakala Academy

“Baur,”a play on searching the past history was staged at Shilpakala Academy Auditorium on May 2, written and directed by Shahadat Hossain Khan Hilu, the play was staged by students of different colleges.

The aim of the play is to promote the culture of Bangladesh and create a link with international culture.  The story of pro-liberation and anti-liberation forces during the War of liberation in 1971 was depicted and the trial of war criminals was also demanded in the play.

The cast of the play were, Ferdous Rahman, Neaz Shahrier, Junayed Ansari, Suborna Saki Khoshbu, Sarwar Jahan, Abu Talha, Nazmul Hasan, Mehruba Zannat, Sujon, Afzal and Chhotan Sarker.

The play was assisted by Sarwar Chowdhury, Manash Talukder, Wahab Mahmud, Milon Miah, Moni Bhattacharya, Monir Hossain Khan, Narayan Chandra Basak and Ferdous Hira.

Earlier, Fayzur Rahman Fakir, chairman of Mymensingh Sadar upazila parishad inaugurated the programme. Among others, district cultural officer Shamsul Haque addressed the opening session. The speakers encouraged the students to participate in stage drama and enthusiastically addressed it as being a cultural art form.

“The young people, especially the students can save the country’s traditional history and they should be properly supported,” the speakers added.
