Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called upon opposition chief Khaleda Zia to sit for a dialogue anywhere she wanted for coming up with a solution for the ongoing political crisis.
While addressing a meeting with Jhalokathi district Awami League leaders at Gano Bhaban Thursday morning, the premier said the venue of the dialogue could either be inside or outside the parliament.
“We are ready to sit wherever you [BNP] want,” the prime minister said.
The prime minister also said history has been made as the country’s prime minister, opposition chief and speaker of the house were now all women.
She called upon Khaleda Zia to take a picture with her and the newly elected speaker.
The BNP-led 18 party alliance had earlier called off the hartal scheduled for Thursday heeding to the prime minister’s call.
BNP said the hartal was called off on “humanitarian grounds” in order to allow the Savar rescue operations smoothly.
“We hope that the prime minister will respond to our calls – in the greater interest of the country – the same as we are now responding to hers,” Khaleda Zia said on Tuesday.
