Dhaka's rail links with Chittagong and Sylhet snapped

Rail communication of Dhaka with Chittagong and Sylhet has been suspended for about six hours after a freight train derailed in Pubail College Gate area of Gazipur. Tahurul Islam, station master of Tongi station, said five compartments of a freight train derailed in College Gate area around 5am Wednesday, disrupting the rail communication on Dhaka-Chittagong-Sylhet route. A relief train was on way to clear the line, he said, adding that rail communication would be resumed within the shortest possible time. None was injured in the incident, the station master said.
