ULAB students rally in Sohagi murder protest

The students of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) took to the streets on Monday, protesting the killing of Sohagi Jahan Tonu, a second-year student of History Department of Comilla Victoria Government College.

Hundreds of students of the university gathered outside of their Dhanmondi campus, at 10:30am and continued their demonstration rally till 12:30pm.

The agitated students vowed to continue their demonstration until the rapists and killers of the theatre activist are brought under trial.

The protest was also joined by teachers of the ULAB.

Sohagi was sexually abused and murdered in the Comilla cantonment area on Sunday night when she was returning from a tuition. Her half naked body with smashed head was recovered later that night from inside the cantonment.

Her father filed a case with Kotwali Model police station. The incident has created a huge uproar around the country.

Several socio-cultural organisations have been staging demonstrations across the country protesting the killing.
