A quinquagenarian has been killed after being burnt in his house at Hathazari upazila in Chittagong on Sunday morning while he was smoking.
The dead is Manik Nath, 50, resident of Meghal Nath Para area of Hathazari, said police sources.
Quoting family members, Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) police outpost’s Nayek Jahangir Alam said Manik sustained critical burn injuries when a fire ignited at the mosquito net of his bed during his smoking in the early hours of Sunday.
Later he was whisked off at CMCH where the on-duty physicians declared him dead, said Nayek Jahangir.
