A week after he went missing, IT specialist Tanvir Hassan Zoha turned up near Dhaka airport in the early hours of yesterday – alive and unharmed but in a disoriented state.
However, there was still no information about where he had been during the past week or who had picked him up on March 16.
Around 1:30am yesterday, law enforcers found a disoriented Zoha walking near the Airport Railway Station. After confirming his identity, plainclothes detectives dropped him off at his home around 2am, said Zoha's uncle Mahbubul Alam.
“When he returned, Zoha was in a totally messy condition and his mental condition was not well. But there was no visible injury on his body. Now we are providing him the necessary treatment and medical support,” the uncle said.
Asked about the whereabouts of his nephew in the past week, Mahbub told the Dhaka Tribune that the family had not spoken to Zoha about the details of the past days and was now focusing more on ensuring his well-being.
Maruf Hossain Sarder, deputy commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, told the Dhaka Tribune that policemen were first notified about a distressed person walking randomly near the Airport Railway Station. After a Detective Branch team went there and found that that the man was actually the missing IT specialist, they safely transported Zoha back to his home, Maruf said.
On March 16, Zoha, who was reportedly involved in the investigation into the Bangladesh Bank digital heist, went missing from Kachukhet area of the capital while he was returning home from an intelligence agency office.
Before going missing, Zoha told some media outlets that he had angered a group by disclosing actual information about the digital heist to media. A conspiracy was on to remove him from the investigation, Zoha had claimed at the time.
