Over 4,000 unidentified people sued

A case was filed accusing 4,000 to 5,000 unknown people over the clash in Sonaimuri upazila, Noakhali that left three people killed and scores injured.

Abu Sayeed, sub-inspector of Sonaimuri police station, filed the case on Tuesday.

Kazi Haniful Islam, officer-in-charge of Sonaimuri police station, confirming the matter said 114 Hizbut Tawhid supporters were sent to jail after filing of the case. 

A dispute over the construction of a mosque at Korpora village led to the clash between villagers and local members of Hizb-ut Tawhid on Monday, resulting in the death of at least three people, two of whom were the members of the banned Islamist outfit.

The clash also saw at least 50 people injured and raged on for nearly three hours before riot police brought the situation under control.

Around 110 men and women were detained by police in this regard.
