Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission has signed a deal with a chartered accountants company for conducting an audit of mobile operator Robi Axiata Limited.
BTRC Administrative Director Aftabul Md Rashedul Wadud, Muraheb Malik Chowdhury of Masih Muhit Haque & Co Chartered Accountants, and Ganapati Subramanian of PKF Sridhar & Santhanam LLP signed the deal on behalf of their respective organisations.
The government has allocated Tk40.88 crore for running the audit of different mobile phone operators this fiscal year.
Of the total amount, Tk7.82 crore would be spent for running the audit of Robi, said a BTRC high-up.
Earlier in October last year, the government signed a deal with audit firm Toha Khan Zaman Co Chartered Accountants for running the second audit of the country's leading mobile phone operator Grameenphone.
The first audit of Grameenphone was done in 2011 by a firm, which found the operator owed Tk3,034 crore to the government.
Later, the Grameenphone took the matter to the High Court and challenged the auditor appointing process, which still remains pending.
