Civil Aviation Secretary Khurshed Alam Chowdhury has been transferred to the Planning Commission, as the UK’s March 31 deadline for improving cargo facilities and airport security draws nearer.
Planning Commission member SM Golam Farok is replacing Khurshed.
The move came a day after Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) chairman Air Vice Marshal Sanaul Huq was replaced by Air Vice Marshal Ahsanul Goni Chowdhury.
On March 10, the UK embargoed direct cargo flights from Dhaka on aviation security grounds.
Meanwhile, four secretary-level public servants were assigned new offices yesterday. Two gazette notifications were issued in this regard by the Public Administration Ministry.
Zillar Rahman, Dhaka divisional commissioner, has been promoted to the post of acting secretary of Privatisation Commission. Secretary to Jute Ministry, Shahid Ullah Khandaker, was transferred to the Public Works Ministry as a secretary.
Rural Development and Co-operatives Division Secretary MA Quader Sarker was transferred to the Jute Ministry, while project director of Akti Bari Akti Khamar, Prosanta Kumer Roy, has been made acting secretary of Rural Development and Co-operatives Division.
