2 Hizb-ut Tawhid men killed in Noakhali clash

At least two people have been killed in a clash between the activists of Hizb-ut Tawhid and villagers of Purpara under Chashirhat union of Sonaimuri upazila in the district.

Noakhali Superintendent of Police Md Elias Sharif confirmed the deaths to the Dhaka Tribune.

The clash erupted on Monday afternoon centring construction work of a mosque in the area, Md Elias said. Over 50 people were injured in the incident.

The deceased were identified as Ibrahim Khan Rubel, 27, son of Nurul Haque and Md Solaiman 24, of purpara village.

Police, RAB, BGB members were deployed in the area to bring the situation under control, he continued.
