State Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Bir Bahadur has said the government is bringing the whole hill region under communications network by constructing roads in remote areas.
The pace of ongoing development activities was being enhanced maintaining peace and harmony in the CHT, he said it yesterday while speaking as the chief guest at a function to inaugurate renovation of Bandarban-Keranihat and Baroaulia-Tankaboti roads at a cost of Tk 21 crore, reports BSS.
The state minister said the improvement of econom ic condition of the backward hill people is possible through the development of the transport system.
Prime minister Sheikh Hasina is giving special attention to the development activities in the CHT areas, he said, adding that development started in the hill region after the signing of the CHT peace treaty.
