An assistant sub-inspector of Hotapara police camp has been killed and three others sustained injuries when a truck hit a microbus in the district's Sadar upazila.
The deceased is Harun-or-Rashid, 37,while the injured are constables Manik Mia, 40, and Abdul Jabbar, 23, and driver of the microbus Faruk Mia,28.
Hotapara police camp in-charge SI Nazmul Islam said: "The incident took place around 4am Saturday when a Mymensingh-bound speeding truck slammed into a microbus, requisitioned for police duty, from behind.
"Harun died on the way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.”
Highway police also seized the truck and took it to Mawna highway police camp.
However, police could not arrest the truck driver as he managed to flee.
