A Dhaka court has sentenced four people to life term imprisonment in a case filed over series bomb blasts in 2005.
Judge Momtaz Begum of the Dhaka's Speedy Trial Tribunal 3 delivered the verdict in presence of three convicts on Thursday afternoon.
The convicts are Kawsar Alam Sumon, Yunus Mia Kawsar, Mehedi Habib Mohammad Rafiq, and Ashraf alias Ashraful Islam alias Sharif. They were also fined Tk20,000 each.
The court also acquitted eight others of the charges as they were found not guilty.
According to the prosecution, the convicts exploded several bombs at a room near Mymensingh Agricultural University's TSC on AUgust 17, 2005. One student of the university named Md Imtiaz was injured in the incident.
On the same day, a case was filed with Kotwali police station.
Members of the JMB in an organised way blasted bombs in 64 districts of the country to demand introduction of sharia laws.
