India have won the final match against Bangladesh in the 15-over grand finale of the Asia Cup T20 2016. They have posted 122 runs losing two wickets in 13.5 overs while chasing a 121-run target.
The hosts scored 120 runs losing five wickets on Sunday, after a partnership of 45 off 20 balls between Mahmudullah and Sabbir.
Soumya, Tamim and Shakib departed after posting 14, 13 and 21 runs respectively while Mushfiqur was sent back to the pavilion at 4 and Mashrafe at duck.
India won the toss and opted to field first in the rain-hit final match of Asia Cup at Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
The match was delayed by two hours due to a massive rain that stopped after 7:40pm.
Earlier in the evening, a dust storm accompanied by the massive rain hit Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium a few moments before the grand finale.
Floodlights went out and darkness engulfed the entire ground soon after the storm began.
Moments after commentator Ramiz Raja did the pitch report, groundstaff ran towards the centre with covers, much to the frustration of the weekday crowd in Mirpur.
Despite the presence of covers, the Bangladesh cricketers put the final touch to their preparation near the boundary rope.
This was the second time in history that the Tigers had reached the final of the regional showpiece competition.
The first final appearance came in 2012 when hosts Bangladesh lost to Pakistan by a tantalising margin of two runs.
