BSTI going to test CNG metering system

Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institution (BSTI) is to introduce testing system on experimental basis for the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-run auto rickshaw meters in four divisional cities within three months.

The divisional cities are: Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet and Rajshahi, where the authorities concerned would enforce this system to ensure hassle free service for the passengers, an official handout said here today.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting on the progress of implementation of the Annual Development Projects (ADP) at the Industries Ministry's conference room with Industries Secretary Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan in the chair.

According to the handout, the government is also implementing a project with an estimated cost of about Taka 7.40 core to install necessary equipments in the BSTI to examine the CNG metering system.

During the meeting, the concerned authorities have been asked to complete the construction works of the Central Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) at Savar tannery industrial park as early as possible.

It was also decided to hold a meeting for canceling the allotment of plots, where the owners have not yet started construction at the Savar tannery industrial park.

The BSTI, during the meeting, has been asked to pursue more monitoring activities against the sale of salt without iodine and soybean oil without vitamin "A", the handout said.

The Industries Secretary stressed on the need for implementing projects in due time.

Chiefs of different organisations under the ministry and project directors were present at the meeting.
