Parliamentary Standing Committee on Road, Transport and Bridges has urged the ministry to strengthen strict monitoring so that the CNG drivers could not charge extra fare.
Ekabbar Hossain, chairman of the committee, told this in the parliament on Sunday.
“After fixing the new fare of CNG auto-rickshaw, the drivers followed the meter a few days but now the drivers are not following the meter, causing passengers’ sufferings. That’s why, the committee recommended the ministry to be strict in this regard,” said Ekabbar.
He also said owners of CNG auto-rickshaws also take more money from the drivers. So, the owners will also come under strict surveillance.
The committee also recommended that the committee representatives will visit the undergoing projects of the ministry.
The ministry will let the committee members informed about the update information of Padma Bridge construction through SMS regularly, the committee also recommended.
It further recommended the ministry to inform the committee before sending any technical committee abroad.
Obaidul Quader, AKM Awal, Rezwan Ahmed Toufiq, Nuruzzaman Ahmed, Foizur Rahman, Nazmul Huq Prodhan, Monirul Islam and Lutfunnnesa participated in the meeting.
