The government is actively considering to reduce the fuel oil price in local market as its price has gone down in international market, State Minister for Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has said.
Replying to a starred question of independent lawmaker Rustam Ali Farazi in the parliament on Thursday, the junior minister said Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) has started getting some profit since November 2014.
The minister said BPC has still loan of Tk26349.81 crore even after adjusting the loans paid since November 2014.
Hamid also said if fuel price is changed then prices of Kerosene, Diesel, Furnace oil and Octane will also be changed.
He said process has started in Bangladesh to formulate a policy to fix the fuel price in local market comparing with the international market.
To formulate such policy for the first time in Bangladesh, scrutiny is going on supplementary effects, he added.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina few days ago told the parliament that the government will not reduce the fuel oil price until the debt of BPC is paid.
