A Narayanganj court has asked the jail authorities to explain the reasons for not producing former RAB official Lt Col Tarek Sayeed Mohammad, an accused in the seven-murder case, on the first day of the deposition.
A court of Narayanganj District and Session Judge Enayet Hossain made the order on Thursday noon and ordered to place the report in the next proceeding.
The court fixed February 29 anew to start deposition in the case. The rest 22 accused including Nur Hossain were produced during the case proceedings.
Public Prosecutor Wazed Ali Khukon said: “The case's litigants Bijoy Kumar Pala and Selina Islam Beauty, were supposed to give deposition today. But Tarek Sayeed has not been produced there and the court has sought explanation from the jail authorities for his absence.”
Police so far have managed to arrest the 23 among the 35 charge-sheeted persons while the rest 12 are in hiding.
On April 27, 2014, Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam, his three associates and driver, and Narayanganj District Judge’s Court senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarker and his driver were abducted from Fatullah area in Narayanganj city. Their bodies were later recovered from Shitalakhya River.
