Two Bangladeshi students killed in Australia road crash

Two Bangladeshi students have been killed and another has been critically injured in a fatal road accident in Belmore of Sydney, said police.

A resident reported hearing a loud skid before the vehicle smashed into a power pole on Canterbury Road in Belmore about 3.40am on Wednesday (Australia Time), reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

Police and emergency services rushed to the area with more than 10 rescuers working to free the three men, all Bangladeshi students, trapped inside the vehicle, reports the online version of the Daily Telegraph of Australia.

According to the Daily Telegraph, CCTV footage of the moments before a car “basically disintegrated” after it collided into a telegraph pole in Belmore shows the Toyota Camry travelling alongside a white Nissan Skyline at what appears to be high speed.

The short clip shows a third car, a blue Toyota Aurion, following the front two at a similar speed, it said.

Just seconds later the black Toyota Camry was almost split in half as it wrapped around a pole, killing two men, believed to be 20, and leaving another man, 20, fighting for his life in St George Hospital.

Other footage from a nearby store shows the Camry cross from the right hand lane, in front of the skyline just moments before the driver skidded out.

He appeared to over correct before slamming into the pole on Canterbury Rd.

Police are looking into the possibility the car was involved in street racing at the time of the crash.

Some of the friends were travelling in another car and witnessed the crash.
