Joss Stone’s soulful night in Dhaka

Winner of a Grammy and two Brit-Awards, British soul sensation Joss Stone mesmerised the audience in Dhaka at the Nabaratri Hall of International Convention City, Basundhara in the capital on February 20. The concert, titled “Pop Republic” and arranged by LiveSquare Entertainment, was a part of Stone’s Total World Tour of 196 countries under the UN.

Following the performances of local artistes, the headlining diva appeared on the stage at around 8:15pm and took to the microphone that had a scarf tied to it and seconds later, the audience were treated to a powerful voice with rich soul.

Blending her old and new songs, Stone’s one and a half hour long performance featured some tunes from her latest album, Water For Your Soul that has earned the top position on Billboard’s Reggae Albums charts. With groovy music from the superb team of musicians and backing vocalists, her smooth and soulful vocals, she kept the audience intrigued and swaying.

Prior to her performance, local music icons Minar Rahman, Armeen Musa, Rafa, Elita Karim and Jon Kabir took the stage separately and in succession.
