Crude bombs exploded at Jessore Shaheed Minar

Two crude bombs have been blasted at central Shaheed Minar premises of Jessore on early Saturday.

Shafin Mahmud, assistant superintendent of Jessore Police, said the explosions took place just after local MP Kazi Nabil Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner Humayun Kabir and Police Super Anisur Rahman, left Shaheed Minar after placing wreaths at the central Shaheed Minar.

Police fired 15 rounds of bullets to bring the situation under control, he said.

Locals said miscreants hurled two crude bombs targeting the central Shaheed Minar around 12:09 am, creating panic among people who assembled there to pay homage to language martyrs of the 1952 Language Movement.

However, ten people were slightly injured in stampede during the blasts and they were given first aid, police said.

Kotwali Model Police Station OC Illlias Hossain said it could not be known yet who exploded the bombs.
