Aishwarya’s Punjabi look in Sarbjit

The first look of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starring as Dalbir Kaur in Omung Kumar’s Sarbjit was officially released in the biopic. Aishwarya, who will play the role of Sarabjit Singh’s sister in the film, is currently busy shooting for the film in Punjab. The still shows Aishwarya clad in a simple shalwar kamiz sitting at a desk, lost in her own world.

A few weeks back, pictures of Aishwarya in her non-glamourised avatar on the sets of Sarbjit started doing the rounds. Talking about Ashwarya’s look, her make-up artist revealed, “Sarbjit is a very challenging film for me. For Sarbjit, I had to spend a lot of time on research. I am quite thrilled about this project. Since Aishwarya is playing Sarabjit’s sister (Dalbir Kaur) in the film, her look will be de-glam, with minimum make-up.”

Omung Kumar’s wife Vanita also shared another picture of Aishwarya from the film sets.

The film is based on Sarabjit Singh, an Indian farmer who was convicted of terrorism and spying in Pakistan, and was sentenced to death. He was attacked by inmates at a prison in Lahore in April 2013 and died a few days later.

The biopic also stars Randeep Hooda in the titular role, Richa Chadha as his wife and Darshan Kumar as a Pakistani lawyer. Sarbjit is set to premiere on May 20, 2016.
