SC seeks Fakhrul's explanation

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has sought explanation from BNP leader Mirza Fakhrul about his remarks on the judiciary.

The five-member bench headed by Chief Justice SK Sinha passed the order on Thursday.

The apex court asked the BNP leader to submit written explanation before it by February 22.

Fakhrul at a programme in Sylhet on February 7 accused the government of controlling the judiciary.

He said murders, enforced disappearance and abductions had marked a sharp rise as the government had been in office by force. They were carrying out fascist acts by controlling the judiciary.
