A newborn baby has been discovered in abandoned state in a jute bag in C&B Baregaon area under Shibpur upazila of Narsingdi district.
A woman named Helana Begum made the discovery of the male baby on Tuesday morning.
However, the baby boy died in Narsingdi Hospital later, but the physicians could not confirm the reason behind the death.
Police said Helana Begum spotted a jute bag abandoned on a field in the area around 10am and found the baby in it. She took the baby to her residence.
At one stage, the baby suddenly became sick and he was whisked off to the district hospital where physicians declared him dead.
Shibpur police station Officer-in-Charge Khandaker Imam Hossain confirmed the incident to the Dhaka Tribune.
