The authorities concerned have handed over the rescued two-day-old baby to its mother on Saturday.
Rapid Action Battalion 3 Operation Officer Rabiul Karim told the Dhaka Tribune that they completed the handover in the morning following identifying the baby's mother, namely Bina, 19.
Currently the baby has been going under treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
On Friday afternoon, RAB rescued the from the capital's Banani when it was being sold. Four persons were detained from a flat on the first floor of MashAllash Mansion, building number 137 of Shantibagh Chairmanbari area yesterday afternoon for their alleged involvement in the incident.
The detainees are Salma Begum, 33, her husband Saiful Islam, 34, Anowara Begum, 46, and one Babu, 36.
Quoting Bina the RAB official said Salma, a former nurse, procured newborn from her saying she was infertile and he would foster the baby as her own. Poor Bina did it considering the baby's bright future.
RAB sources said Salma used to collect babies from poor families with the trick and she sells those to others.
A RAB 3 team, led by Major Kamran Kabir Uddin, raided the house acting on a tip off. They caught the four red-handed when they were transacting Tk1 lakh, presumably during the process of trading the baby.
