At least three alleged robbers have been beaten to death by an unruly mob in Jinda Uttarpara area under Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj district.
The mob-beating took place in the area early Saturday.
Identity of the deceased, aged between 30 and 40, could not be ascertained yet.
Rupganj police station Officer-in-Charge Mahmudul Islam said a gang of robbers swooped on the house of one businessman Razzak Sikder in Jinda Uttarpara area around 3:30am.
The robbers indiscriminately beat up and hacked Razzak when he tried to prevent the robbery. Hearing the victim's shout for help, the locals encircled the robbers and gave them a good number of beating.
Two robbers died on the spot and the other died of his injuries at Rupganj Health Complex. However, the rest robbers managed to flee in the face of hot chase by the mob.
Quoting locals the OC confirmed the mob-beating to the Dhaka Tribune.
Police recovered the bodies in the morning.
