DB to investigate tea-seller's death

The case filed over the death of Mirpur tea stall owner Babul Matubbor, has been handed over to Detective Branch (DB) of Police.

Deputy Commissioner (media) of DMP Maruf Hossain Sardar confirmed this to the Dhaka Tribune on Monday afternoon.

On Sunday, police submitted the probe report on the tea seller's death. The report found that four officials of the capital’s Shah Ali police station did not perform their duties properly during the attack on Babul Matubbor and failed to take necessary actions in the aftermath of the incident.

On February 3, Babul Matubbor, received severe burn injury when a team of Shah Ali police allegedly attacked him causing an oil spill from his stove. He was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital but succumbed to his injuries on the following day.
